Thames Gateway Park is an industrial park in Dagenham Dock for B1/B2/B8 comprising over 700,000 square feet of warehousing office and distribution space. Phases 3 was completed in 2015 with Phase 4 now underway.
The site was a former manufacturing facility for GEC Marconi Cables and Exide Battery Corporation which underwent extensive ground investigation and remediation prior to development. The buildings are of steel portal frame construction supported on piled foundations with piled floor slabs and loading aprons.
Structa undertook a flood risk assessment for the scheme taking into account the recently constructed flood protection measures implemented by the Environment Agency to relieve the adjacent Gores Brook when the River Thames is at high tide. We also undertook the civil and structural engineering design for Phases 3 and 4. Michael Ibbeson was personally responsible for the civil and structural engineering of Phases 1 and 2 in previous employment providing consistency of engineering across the development.
Each phase of construction has seen the incorporation of new and innovative construction details to permit speedier and more cost effective construction.
