TILBURY POWER STATION
Tilbury Power Station B was converted to run on bio-mass fuel and this resulted in the need to run new fuel feed ducts around the existing infrastructure into the boiler house. Structa provided design assistance to Rippleside Services Ltd in support of a design and build contract to build a pipe bridge to support the new bio-mass supply ducts over a span of 26m. This involved survey and assessment of the existing structure in order to justify launch and landing bearing points for the bridge, together with design and fabrication details for the bridge. The bridge was designed as a lattice girder using steel angle sections, for ease of construction and installation in a congested area of the power station.
